Do we have to book the registrar separately?
Yes, it is a legal requirement that you contact the Registrar separately and ensure they are available to conduct a Civil Wedding Ceremony on the date you have chosen, and it is best to do this before you confirm your date with us.
Which room would we have our Civil Wedding Ceremony in?
At The Old Rectory we want your day to be perfect, which is why we are only licensed for ceremonies in our Gala Hall.
How many guests can we invite for a Civil Wedding Ceremony?
Our Gala Hall can hold a maximum of 78 guests for your ceremony including the married couple to be.
Are other events scheduled on the same day?
At The Old Rectory, we believe that every wedding should be special. We do not host other events on your wedding day, we don’t even hold viewings
When can the Bridal party and guests arrive?
If you choose to have your wedding with us: the bridal party is able to arrive from 9am to get ready in our exclusive courtyard lodge. Other overnight guests may check in to the house from 12pm.
When does everyone have to leave?
All party guests must leave our premises by 12:30am. Overnight guests must check out by Midday the day after the wedding.
Do you have a car park?
At The Old Rectory, we are lucky enough to have plenty of car parking space. Cars can be left onsite overnight and picked up the next day by midday.

Catering & Drinks
Can we bring in our own caterers?
It is essential that we offer a consistently high standard of catering. Therefore, if you book your wedding with us, all catering must be provided by one of our preferred suppliers, who all offer an exceptionally high level of service and competitive prices.
Can we contact the preferred caterers ourselves?
All our caterers prefer to liaise with our team directly, this ensures you receive a professional service and our team are fully involved in your wedding planning.
Some menus say ‘excludes staffing’, how much is this going to cost?
All of the pricing you see on our sample menus is directly from our caterers. We charge a small fee for the staff required to serve your meal. We have two pricing tiers which depend on how many guests and how you would like your food to be served: Family sharing & buffet - £3.60 per guest & evening food - £1.80 per guest. With Fingers and Forks, our staffing fee is included in their menu’s pricing.
Can we taste any of the food before our wedding?
While our caterers do not hold food tastings to sample their menus, they can hold a menu refinement session for your wedding breakfast. This is an opportunity for clients to not only taste their chosen dishes but to also consider the suggested presentation and to flavours to be tweaked to suit your palate. This may be extra cost that varies depending on each caterer.
Bar opening & closing hours...
If you choose to get married with us, our bar will open an hour before your ceremony. The earliest we are able to open is 11:30am. Our bar is licensed until midnight, however last orders can be arranged to suit you and your guests between 11pm and 11:45pm.
Can we bring our own drink?
At The Old Rectory, only beverages supplied by the venue may be consumed on the premises. We do not offer corkage. The use of Alcohol as ‘table favours’ is strictly prohibited due to our Alcohol license. Guests with their own drinks on site will be liable to pay a £50 fee.
Do you offer any drinks packages?
Although we don’t accept corkage, we are able to create drinks packages for you and your guests to enjoy. Please see here for our current packages, although we are more than happy to quote for a bespoke package.
Suppliers, Music & Extras
Do we have to use your hand-picked suppliers?
Our hand-picked suppliers are experts within the industry and of course we highly recommend them. However, you are not obliged to use them! For all suppliers, all we ask is they adhere to our supplier’s venue contract and provide proof of the relevant public liability insurance prior to any event.
Can we have live music or a DJ?
Our wedding package includes usage of our in-house music system. If you would also like a DJ or live music, the garden can be used until 9pm then in the Gala Hall thereafter. All equipment must be PAT-tested, with proof shown prior to any event.
What time does music have to end?
From 11pm, all music must be reduced to a suitable volume for the remaining hour of your wedding party. Amplified music is not permitted after 11pm. All music will be turned off at Midnight.
Can extra decorations be added?
Our venue is decorated elegantly, but if you feel you need a bit more sparkle or glamour for your special day, we can dress the venue for you for a hourly fee of £54 or you are welcome to use an event stylist / supplier of your choice.
Can we have any extras for our wedding day?
We have a whole list of in-house extras! For example, a sweet cart, flower arch and donut wall, plus much more. Please email us for our extras page. Of course you are welcome to source extras from outside suppliers, all we ask is that they agree to meet our team before your big day and ensure they follow our venue rules.
What is included with breakfast?
With both our current packages, a breakfast of cereals, croissants, bread and spreads will be available for you and your guests to help yourselves to in the breakfast room, along with plenty tea and coffee. If you would like to bring in your own food to cook yourself a hot breakfast, we have kitchen facilities available.
What table linen, crockery, cutlery and napkins are included?
Included in both our current packages is our cutlery, suitable for any meal. Our Table linen, crockery and linen napkins are white. If you would prefer a different colour, this can be provided at an extra cost.
What drinks are included in our packages?
For both our current packages, included is a toast drink of Prosecco for up to 78 guests, should you rather serve something different, you may offset this value against a drinks package of your choice.
